"Ying Xinxun: Overexposure Gold Velvet" is an art installation by artist Ying Xinxun, inspired by Ye Mi's novel Never Get Old, to present a "materialized" channel for interpreting contemporary emotions through artistic creation. In this project, the artist perpetuates her exploration of "faux velvet", laying the tone for a dreamy and dazzling space with walls covered in red and gold silk velvet. Additionally, the introduction of pearl sandblasting techniques further enhances the artistic expression, constructing a realistic scene within the gallery space that echoes the themes of the novel.
In the exhibition space, objects that carry the memories of Suzhou's olden days and other daily necessities, are cut and reassembled in a way that breaks through conventional logic. Here, the audience can freely touch the velvet surface, leave words on the wall or paint their current feelings, thus creating a new surreal narrative.
In this "soft" space, everyone is both a viewer and a creator. It silently listens to and absorbs the emotions of each individual, without judgement.
