Designed by Danish architectural firm BIG, the museum offers a fresh modern interpretation of the timeless essence of classical Suzhou gardens. It consists of nine interconnected standalone pavilions, each reflecting the cherished concept of "a scene at every step." At its core, four exhibition halls, with heights reaching up to 18 meters, accommodate a wide range of display needs. Along the lakeside, visitors will find spaces dedicated to public education, interactive exchanges, and commerce, while a versatile performance and exhibition venue, equipped with black-box theater capabilities, enhances the area's charm. This design beautifully integrates waterside harmony, garden-inspired aesthetics, open accessibility, iconic appeal, and functional flexibility into one cohesive experience.

Dedicated to becoming a world-class, high-quality institution that embodies the spirit of Suzhou and the unique character of Suzhou Industrial Park, with an emphasis on modern and contemporary art, the museum will play a vital role in transforming Jinji Lake's Right Bank into a "world-class urban reception hall." Its strategic plan highlights four key "positioning focuses": operationally, it aims to become a new landmark for international cultural venues in Suzhou and a global platform for cultural and artistic exchanges; in nature, it will serve as a state-owned public art museum guided by principles of public welfare, artistic excellence, and quality; functionally, it emphasizes exhibitions, aesthetic education, cultural innovation, and international exchanges, while also integrating art collection, academic research, and leisure experiences; professionally, positioned as a "Boundaryless Museum," it prioritizes international artistic exchange while incorporating domestic art exhibitions. Its mission is to showcase and study outstanding artworks from China and abroad, promote the exchange and localization of cutting-edge cultural ideas, and contribute to the city's future development through high-quality cultural products.
