Museum lighting design is an interdisciplinary field that, based on the fundamental relationships and principles between light and visual perception, innovates and applies light and related technologies in a rational manner to enhance the perception and experience of visitors in museum spaces. This is the core concept of its design. This lecture specially invites Dr. Hu Guojian, Design Director of RDI International Lighting, to delve into the lighting design and light environment construction of contemporary art museums. By exploring the evolution of contemporary art museum architectural forms and exhibition spaces in both the East and the West, as well as the diversity and uncertainty of artistic visual presentation, the lecture will interpret the design strategies and application methods of light in art exhibition spaces. Meanwhile, Dr. Hu will demonstrate how lighting design integrates with architectural style through the architectural nightscape design of Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art, creating a spatial ambiance that embodies regional characteristics and cultural connotations.
