Exhibitions have undoubtedly become an indispensable part of the art ecosystem in China since the 20th century. The curating of contemporary Chinese art, which has been nurtured and developed through the 1980s and 1990s, has accumulated considerable experience and engaged in frequent interaction with the international art world. Based on this, as a window for observing and intervening in the state of contemporary Chinese art, what new dimensions have emerged in 21st-century Chinese contemporary art exhibitions? Professor Hu Bin, Dean of the School of Art and Humanities at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, will combine his own contemporary art practice experience and explore several angles and key concepts—biennales, traditional resources, historical retrospectives, abstraction, individualism, interactive models, youth ecology, new media, and social participation. He will briefly outline the characteristics and issues of 21st-century Chinese contemporary art exhibitions, aiming to promote a broader understanding and recognition of the contemporary art ecosystem.
